Hebrews 13:20-21 Takes Me Home

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

This passage takes me home to Caroline Furnace because it is the first place I really began to understand its meaning. In this passage, God tells us that He will equip us to face any challenge that comes our way. Filling out that first application to be a counselor at Caroline Furnace, I had no idea how many new thing I'd be signing on to do, how unprepared I'd feel during that very first staff training or that first week with campers. Luckily for me, this passage tells us that God doesn't call the qualified; He qualifies the called. Over and over again God gives us stories of passing over those with the perfect qualifications to settle on the right person for the job. He does that very thing every year when he calls together a motley group of college kids to a tiny piece of his creation set aside for His glory. He calls these counselors to be His open arms, to welcome children of all ages. Then, despite their own doubts God gives them everything they need to do that.
