Pastor Wayne met his wife Vikki at a Lutheran leadership retreat in January of 1981 at Camp Kinard in South Carolina (and now they both work at a Lutheran camp, hummm). They now make their home at Caroline Furnace, with their three children, Jake, Josh and Becca (when she's home from college). |
Anita Smallin is now serving as the Program Director at Caroline Furnace. This comes after YEARS of being a camper, counselor or staff member every summer since 1989! She has served in congregations in Baltimore, MD, Minneapolis, MN and Great Falls, VA in youth ministry before heading off to camp. She attended Luther College (Decorah, IA) and studied Music and Religion. In 2008, she graduated from Luther Seminary (St. Paul, MN) with an MA in Children, Youth and Family Ministry.
Outside of work, Anita enjoys singing, playing guitar, cuddling with her collie Jack, and brushing up on her American Sign Language skills.
Random fun facts about Anita include her fascination with the connection between the church and social media (complete dissertation available for the brave) and a love of rubber ducks.
Anita will be joining our staff at the end ofMay

Bobbi Shuler started working with Caroline Furnace a few years ago as a contracted bookkeeper. When she decided it was time to leave the bookkeeping company, we asked if she would come an join to Caroline Furnace family. She now works one day a week, keeping up with our books, learning our data system and helping to keep the office humming along.
Bobbi is a native of the Shenandoah Valley, she grew up in Front Royal and now resides in Stanley, just beyond the Luray area. Bobbi and her family live next to her husband's poultry farm.
Gardening and baseball are two of Bobbi's favorite things, especially cheering on her son Cody, who plays for the Page County High School JV team. She also enjoys spending time with her granddaughter Lillie and daughter Ashley. Bobbi also loves to read and go to auctions.
